Lil Nas X Arrested in Los Angeles, Facing Battery Charges on Police Officer
Grammy-winning rapper and songwriter Lil Nas X was arrested on the morning of August 21st in Los Angeles after what police describe as a chaotic encounter on Ventura Boulevard in Studio City. The artist, whose real name is Montero Lamar Hill, was taken into custody after charging at officers who responded to reports of a man walking in the street in his underwear.
“He was transported to a local hospital for a possible overdose and placed under arrest for battery on a police officer,” Police spokesperson, Charles Miller said. While authorities continue to make their investigation, Hill will be held in the Valley Jail in Van Nuys.
Lil Nas X, who rose to stardom in 2018 following the release of his record breaking Old Town Road featuring Billy Ray Cyrus, has not been shy to speak out about his struggles with his new life of fame. Sudden success, and even the deaths of fellow artists like Juice Wrld and Nipsey Hussle left him grappling with anxiety.
The musician also went on to win two Grammy awards, break Billboard Hot 100 records, and become the first openly gay man to win a Country Music Association award.
Unverified footage from TMZ also appeared to show the rapper dancing in the street Thursday morning wearing only cowboy boots and underwear, calling out to passersby to “come to the party.” His representatives have not yet issued a statement on the incident.
This arrest comes as Hill prepares to release his next studio album, Dreamboy, which the artist has been teasing on social media platforms in the past few weeks.
