Decomposed Body Found in D4vd's Abandoned Los Angeles Tesla

A suspicious odor lead workers at a Los Angeles tow yard to alert the police. On Monday afternoon, police responded to Hollywood Tow on North Mansfield Avenue, where they discovered the decomposed remains of a woman inside a bag located in the trunk of a car, registered to a well known singer known as D4vd.

According to NBC News, D4vd "has been informed about what’s happened, and although he is still out on tour, he is fully cooperating with the authorities."

D4vd, whose legal name is David Anthony Burke, is a 20-year-old rising singer and songwriter originally from Hempstead, Texas. His viral singles, “Romantic Homicide,” and  “Here With Me,” have both surpassed 1.5 billion streams on Spotify. Currently signed to Interscope Records under Universal Music Group, Burke is now nearing the end of his “Withered World Tour,” in support of his second studio album, Withered, that was released earlier this year. 

In the past few weeks, the singer has also been featured in a joint promotional campaign by Crocs and Hollister. Both brands have since removed him from the campaign, amid the ongoing investigation. 

Los Angeles police stated the vehicle was towed from the Hollywood Hills, after neighbors reported a strong odor coming from the possibly abandoned car. It remained at the impound lot for several days before staff had contacted authorities. Due to the extent of the decedent’s decomposition, her identity has remained undetermined, along with the victim’s cause of death. The body is believed to have been in the vehicle “for an extended period of time.”

Burke performed as scheduled on Tuesday evening in Minneapolis, without publicly addressing the situation. In a separate incident, police confirmed that a second body was found this same day at another tow yard in Los Angeles. As of now, the investigators do not believe the two cases are connected, and no suspects have been identified.
