Women Dies After A Medical Emergency Following Disneyland’s Haunted Mansion Ride
Just this past week, a woman in her 60’s died after suffering from an apparent medical episode at Disneyland after she went on the Haunted Mansion ride.
The guest was found unresponsive immediately after exiting the ride, the Anaheim Police Department confirmed. When Anaheim Fire and Rescue had arrived, Disneyland security had already begun CPR, a spokesperson for the city of Anaheim, California, said.
The Orange County Sheriff-Coroner Office has not yet confirmed the cause of death.
The popular attraction currently themed to “The Nightmare Before Christmas,” is a slow moving ride, described on Disneyland’s website as “OK for little ones.” The ride takes guests on a tour through a “ghostly” manor on the iconic “doom buggies,” which are seats that travel at approximately one mile an hour.
The attraction first opened at the Anaheim park in 1969, with its holiday theme debuting in 2001 as an annual tradition. Haunted Mansion was briefly closed following the incident, but after no operating issues were discovered, it was reopened quickly afterwards.
Out of respect for the guest and family, Disneyland has not released any further details.
